Not How I Wanted You To See Us
By Roze Menon
I never expected a day,
When I wouldn’t turn your way,
You think your physical presence,
Now, will make a difference,
To all your perfectly timed absences.
This time it’s different,
After years of trust-breaking, indifferent,
Heart-breaking and deep wounds,
I decide to not let you intrude,
This time I won’t be wooed.
I can’t give you another last chance,
Don’t remember how many lasts we had danced,
Making it feel like a part of life,
I can’t carry anymore dislike,
I’m all torn up due to your spikes.
All muddled in this game,
The burden of yet another person’s name,
Written with my tears,
Yet wouldn’t wash away for years,
You had promised, no one would interfere.
Each forgiveness, you stashed,
I really did think, it was the last,
Of course, it never ended in trust,
I can finally see how you see it, it seems unjust,
It is, not how I wanted you to see us.
