Not Everything You Bear

Felt an itch on my left eyelid,

then the other followed too.

Rubbed gently with my fingers,

and I opened and I saw.

I saw a tree, a tree standing

in the winter, through the window.

Its leaves were torn, pining,

some scattered on the ground.

Droplets formed on the glass,

making the view hazy.

I opened the window and was brushed

by a cold breeze yet ghastly.

I opened the door and walked outside,

I saw a tree and stood beneath the tree.

It was tall, forlorn,

with torn, faded leaves.

It stood alone behind a cottage,

a bunch of other trees were far away.

The cold, dusk breeze brushed again,

distressed, sorrowful, crestfallen.

I watched, I empathized,

I hugged, we hugged each other.

Sometimes a hug is all that's needed,

for melancholy to loosen its grip.

People often mistake shared pain,

for a plea for remedy or magic.

A recipe guide isn't what's expected,

when agony is being shared.

A hug can do,

what many mantras cannot.

It assures the embrace,

that not everything they bear,

shall be carried alone.

I stepped back, I teared up,

I felt embraced and I looked up.

I looked, I saw a tree,

a tree stood tall in a foggy winter.
