Years ago in a land far away,

Listening to the rain against my window,

I let my tears run down my face.

The sky dark as my day,

My spirits like the clouds looming low.

The larger quiet filled me with sorrow,

I knew not why.

Perhaps I felt lost

In the thoughts of the morrow,

The dream of a hello, the ache of a goodbye.

Tonight, when I close my eyes

Trying to forget the noise around me,

My mind flashes sweetly back

And fills me with surprise

At how I miss the melancholy.

Is it solitude I miss so dearly?

Is it the memories of an eve mellow?

I think long and hard amidst the chaos

I think I miss the rain against my window.
