"Nobody"
By Aananda Verma
i wish i could write about falling in love but they tell you to write of things you know.
sometimes i am afraid i have forgotten to feel, but a revolting ache wails in my ear.
an ache a wound a bandage, scraped together in a desperate attempt to hide
what has already been chewed raw. my heart is rotting fruit in my hand, torn to shreds,
and i can only look at it with resentful longing. the cavity in it’s place looms larger still
dragging me into myself until the void swallows me whole and spits out my remains.
i am sick to my stomach i dread waking up it is 4 am and i have nobody to think of.
i held love in my hands and it slipped through my fingers
now it burns to touch and i am covered in bruises.
nobody nobody nobody nobody.
i am flesh and blood and bones
and i am empty.
