Mike has had quite a day and this evening wasn't going to be any different. First, it was his wife Cindy, who was overly happy that morning because she woke up on the right side of the bed, literally. Breakfast was fast as she kept rambling on about how happy the sun was that morning.

Apparently, it did little to change my already soggy mood, water dripping down my face as I stared out the window to meet the gaze of the yellow ball of fire that grinned like a Cheshire cat in the sky.

Funny, it seemed focused on the house opposite ours as Mr. Gregory laid wasted on the rooftop... again The sun smiling in a creepier fashion as its heat kept increasing rapidly, intent on burning him. Cats caught fire as they scaled the walls, flying insects went off like tiny fireworks as the exploded from the heat. Mr. Charles fat as ever, slid all across the road whilst he jogged for he was now dripping enough fat that made him as slippery as an eel.

Lots of barbecue went on that morning as several fires were being reported all around the neighborhood. Even Ms. Comfort was at her wits end as her corn stash turned to popcorn. Breakfast was a disaster for me, melted butter, quick burning toast, blazing hot coffee and exploding eggs.

But not for Cindy... no Siree, it was a good day, in fact, it was a great day as she carried on like normal. I guess what they say about waking up in the "right" side of the bed is true after all...

Me, on the other hand waited for the city to burn.

Well, the game changed as the sun peering closer at Mr. Gregory got more than it bargained for. For Mr. Gregory turned in his undisturbed sleep backing him, leaving his hairy exposed butt to the sun. Startled at the sight, but worse when it didn't expect what came next. Loud, burning and choking, his flatulence exploding in the heat like a bomb, right in the eye of the sun. Mr. Gregory must've done this on purpose as he was rolling on his sides laughing his top off, which floated and landed back on his head when he stopped laughing.

The sun angry at this, turned it's back in disdain and the whole city went dark.

"Great, even the sun is pissed."; I said as I silently bit into my burnt up toast.

"What did you say honey?"; said my wife glowing like a glow stick as she ate her cereal.

"Even the soup is cold."; I quipped back at her.

"Okay... Wait, a minute, there's no soup. You know I hate it when you pull my legs like that."

But I was already gone, like the wind, out the door... before she could finish. Few inches from her lay her legs on the floor.

"Bastard."; she swore under her breath when she saw them.

"Now, I have to put them back on."

Work was a downer, Sam the monkey kept hiding the stapler for no apparent reason, Maggie the parrot wouldn't shut up, even at the meeting when we had to address the elephant in the room, again. Don't know why he's always the subject for every meeting we have.

I mean, I work hard, but it's the elephant that's always getting noticed. Even when I addressed the issue all I got was a chill pill. Which, well did wonders by keeping me cold and calm for the rest of the day.

Traffic was a killer as wreckage of different sorts piled the streets, even the bar I always go to see the guys hanging around, had less people "hanging" that day. So instead I went home, not after stopping for some cold ones.

Which, my God, were the coldest "one" that day.

Even the apples I bought didn't seem happy either as they screamed and bit me when I touched them.

"Ughhhhh, sad apples. They seem to be more rampart these days as I walked home brushing past them."

I got home to a dark house, silent save for the small cricket in the corner stridulating. The lights come on and there she sat, glowing as she started to ask how my day went, which of course went to the train station as planned earlier that day.

"Do you really wanna hear that?"; I asked coldly as I set the cold "ones" on the table which started to jump down laughing.

"Honey, you gotta relax, take it easy, like I am... You... wait don't you dare roll your eyes at me Mister. DONT. YOU. DARE."; she said irritably.

Calmly, I stared at her as I pulled both eyes from their sockets, rolling them on the floor towards her.

She watches me, face turning red as slight traces of steam could be seen floating out of her ears.

Nothing made sense anymore, as I stared at the ceiling, high as a kite....

The End...
