Night Echoes

The still in the air

wrenching my throat

as if something is there

hiding behind the coat.

Schedule, plan and diary

never past a fortnight

a sense to hold deary

in this forgetfulness uptight.

Habits and dietary

pills and therapy

hoping to fight vigorously

these demons inside of me.

8 hours every night

always clocked and pinned

never open the light

in hope they stay within.

Marathon like pulse

a sound of rhythm

she’ll hear in choruses

as the silence deafened.

Will I sleep now?

or staying still

as the fears hollow

lay the sick and ill.
