Never Known

It’s dangerous toppling on the edge

With no warning or sign, a bite of a tongue

Inching forward in heels of grief

Mourning a love that never was.

Persistence of lies

Can lead me back to you

You are an apple of cruelty

Leading me to affliction.

I, a fairytale damsel,

You, a warning folklore

Led into crevices of my body

I had never known to love.

The sand is as cold as your shoulder

Wade into endless death

For what can I be

but the object of your affection?
