Neither Could She Express Love Nor Could She Grieve

By Ishwarpreet Kaur Grewal

She claimed she had experienced love in many forms,

She argued with pride that she had known love in its highest form,

But “destiny” played its role, and she was struck with “a kind” of love,

A kind love which left her in a state of elation and turmoil all at the once,

The love orbs stemmed from the core of her heart,

And they travelled up to be ready to be expressed,

But she did not express, she did not speak a word,

Neither to the beloved nor to anyone else,

As the orbs could not find their way out of those lips,

They were sent back and buried deep inside the heart grips,

Each time she was overwhelmed with love,

Love orbs of deep affection originated from the heart’s core,

But she put them away back behind the heart’s door,

There came a point, when the heart’s capacity was full packed,

It no longer had the room for the orbs which were sent back,

So the orbs started clinging to the outer walls of the heart,

Encircling in a way to be as close as to the heart’s warm core,

The bunch of orbs away from the core, devoid of the warmth,

Devoid of the love, shivered in cold and began to freeze,

And then there came a point,

When the heart was encircled with a frozen layer of orbs,

The love orbs growing out of the core could no more travel out of the heart,

Smashing the frozen layer with full thrust, they revolted, but in vain,

With no sight of being expressed, these orbs grieved and died,

This went on, the orbs full of warmth stemmed from the core but they grieved and died,

Since the orbs of affection and grief were both trapped inside,

This left a deep unseen impact on her,

Neither could she express love nor could she grieve completely,

She was often left with a feeling of melancholia for reasons unknown to her,

And a strange longing, for something unexplained, that’s what she claimed.
