Nature is Unpredictable and We Are Invisible

By Riddhi Kundu

The warning signals sounded so loud and clear to hear,

The government sends a word of emerging fear,

Angered clouds proceed across the dark sky,

That ruins our lives with a big sigh.

Teardrops that appear from the heavens,

That floods the land with gloomy expressions,

Causing havoc and mayhem,

Singing a blue and chaotic anthem.

Schools switched to remote learning,

Offices implemented Work from Home,

Pupils, teachers, and employees embraced the quick change,

Slowly things went smoothly, without any sign of fretting.

The dessert land of UAE is so dry and hot,

Experiencing rainfall like it did not,

In 75 years, the heaviest downpour,

Nature’s surprise leaves us humans in awe.

The rain fell into sheets that day,

Flooding airports, neighbourhoods, and offices in its way,

All schools closed their doors, and students stayed at home,

The water level kept rising, leaving many feeling tired and alone.

Cars were stranded, engines stalled,

On the water-logged roads, they were called,

The rain poured down heavily, the water level rose,

And everyone was left in sadness and woes.

But the authorities were thinking fast to act,

Braving the strong storm was a skilful act,

They work all around the clock to drain,

The water-logged roads again.

A sound echoed in the sky,

A helicopter appeared spirits began to fly,

The government sent help to those in need,

To rescue them from the flood’s fierce breed.

The storm has passed, the clouds are gone,

The sun shining brightly, a brand-new dawn,

The UAE once again stands proud and tall,

After enduring nature’s unpredictable call.

So let us embrace the unpredictability of nature,

And rise to the challenge, with courage and composure,

For we may never know what lies ahead,

But we humans are invincible, and that’s what keeps us ahead.
