My World Is Only You

Once,

I had a goal, a dream of sorts,

To be master of the arts,

To stay ahead, grab my seat,

To own the world, at my feet.

Once,

I felt the snow, boiled it down,

I learnt a tongue, verb & noun,

I saw the grass, mowed it flat,

I built a hall, and there I sat.

Once,

I stood in ponds, drained them out,

I crossed a stream, emptied the trout,

I watched the skies, clouded them in,

I piled up glory, earned in sin.

Once,

I heard a dog, chased it away,

I worked in craze, night & day,

I met life, leached his colour,

Made him gray, a bleary blur.

My world was dull, black &white,

Pride and greed clouded my sight.

Then came you, a beam of light,

You taught me wrong from right.

You showed me joy, let me smile,

You gave me love, the extra mile,

You fixed me, made me whole,

Body, mind, heart & soul.

With you,

I have a goal, a dream of sorts,

To find the fun in the arts,

To stay abreast, to earn my seat,

To feel the world, heart abeat.

With you,

I feel the snow, I let it fly,

I learn a tongue, thanks & hi,

I see the grass, lie on it,

I run & play, my eyes alit.

With you,

I stand in ponds, feed the fish,

I cross a stream, in rapt relish,

I watch the skies, gaze in awe,

I learn of God, of life & law.

With you,

I hear a dog, rub its ears,

I work in zeal, joys & fears,

I greet life, add to him,

No matter what, bright or dim.

My world was dull, black & white,

Pride & greed clouded my sight.

Then came you, a beam of light,

You taught me wrong from right.

You showed me joy, let me smile,

You gave me love, the extra mile,

You fixed me, made me whole,

Body, mind, heart & soul.

And so now I say,

Only you could bring me the world,

For my world is only you!
