My Monsoon Wears A Hat

By Megha Das

My monsoon is pretty

like a Victorian lady

with her pretty little hat

and a pretty little umbrella

in her neatly manicured hands

roaming around in

the garden

walking

but not really

going anywhere.

My monsoon is peaceful

like an old monk

in the mountains

not in a bottle

It is quiet and tranquil and also

super chill

like one of those days

in summer

after the spring

followed by a wintry night.

My monsoon is pretty

like an old-age whiskey

smooth but subtle

sometimes not so much

icy skin and bubbly chin.

My monsoon is pretty

like a bohemian rhapsody

feels on the ears

and to the soul

pouring and purring

with gentle perfection.
