My Love: My Midnight Blues
By Kanika Verma
I see a plethora of colours
But my mind
Oh! My mind has its own midnight blue
Sun- a star, a furnace melting you or forging you
But oh! There is my lover- my midnight blues
I am pretty much the same-
Rosy cheeked, strong of bone and sly of wit
But there is a darkness inside me, outside me and in the sky above me
So, I keep on running, and keep on sailing
But wherever I go
I bump into you- my midnight blues
I am broken
And broken is my soul
A metre’s distance is maintained by my friend and cat
Who is warm as sun, from me- who is cold as ice
I am deep and dark as an abyss
That gazes into you
So there again I lean on to- my midnight blues
Tear in my eyes and truth on my lips
I was sure that I was caught up by my sins
As the black clouds hovered over me
And the waters troubled beneath me
I know! I know! I was found by my love- my midnight blues
Churlish I may seem
Running from you, from me & from my esteem
But here I am again, Looking-
Looking at you
Looking through you
Seeing the light
The ghost of my past
While my darkness howls
And my midnight blues awaits
I heard voice of her
Voice that always have my ear
Like my life is aligned in syzygy with hers
I felt oblivion
As if I died by defenestration
I opened my eyes
And found myself on the floors
Lying and realizing
With a good grief
That it was brief
The dream of me and my love
My midnight blues.
