My Love, Break My Heart

By Anand Gupta

Even Physics, Chemistry and

most notably,

Atomic Sciences accept that

Unimaginable energy is released

Whenever a particle is broken

It can light up the world, or

Burn it down like Hiroshima, or

Nagasaki or, little known,

Marshall Islands ironically

Placed in the Pacific!

Same as every time when

Something is broken in me

There comes an energy

I cannot fathom to grip it all around

But unlike the Nations of the world

Preaching world peace with

Tons and tons of nuclear weapons

I create something out of it

That bursts others with joy not into pieces!

It may sear me down, but

From my ashes there rises

The phoenix of creation, and

I’ll continue to create something

As beautiful as poems, stories and smiles

So more my heart is crushed and broken

More it’s stabbed from all the possibilities

More the daffodils will rain

More the mountains will echo and

More the rivers will blush seeing me

On the barren Island of my wild creation!

Take your chances, my love, and

Break me down, tear me apart

In the most medieval fashion

Spill the blood of hope still pumping in me

Cut every small flesh of feeling yet left in me

Put the thousand daggers at

Every inch of my skin till

They cut my pristine soul

Break my hymning heart to the level from

Where it cannot be broken any further

Break the last dying sight in me—blind me

Burn the last log of love in me

You’ll only set me free, my love, and

I’ll be called on The Creator—and

The creator will be me!
