My Closest Enemy…

Just hate all the memories,

because I have to see you in every piece,

wonder if you were my closest enemy,

think it wouldn't have hurted this much in so deep.

Loved all your hugs for free,

even if I wasn't okay with them but they were meant to be,

other minute we were spouting rubbish like we belong to a mad colony.

It can't change all the million bad things.

Several words you said were mean.

Maybe it's just captivating negativity,

or is it true that people change so easily?

How about we go around that year,

when we first thought that we'd be so near.

Get a drive through with our glasses clear,

we can see what we had and now we're here.

Maybe in reality, we are unlike each other,

few months without talking can't bring each other's favourite weather.

After a while, now you look so cool,

going out and having fun old school.

Every time you danced, I used to shoot you,

you Laughed, I used to show you,

acted like a child, I still watch it like it's all new.

Know you'll forget me because I am too introvert,

after I'll leave, you'll find some better bird,

at least I hope you remember the days when I wasn't okay and you didn't listen and said yours is the worst.

With you, all I do is pretend,

lie to your face that everything is doing okay.

The force to divulge will only have a limit,

you may think you know everything but that's just the gist of a whole day.

Pretend to be happy with you, pretend to be happy because of you,

all I miss is my favourite monsoon.

After being the jokers of the dorm we are in,

only want to face in opposite direction like we are social distancing.

After all the silly fights and grapples, we still saved seats to sit,

this time I can be strong enough on my own, my self-respect is what I am answering.

Still so unaware of the complication we are creating,

only losing something that seemed so endearing.

People come and go as we all go through a lot of changes,

can't ignore the fact how great we were, now it’s time to turn the pages.

It’s better to leave the space that wasn't yours ever,

ears covered with ice-cold hands and trying not to hear all that chatter.

Now it feels so low when we are together,

there are always somethings we can't change forever.
