Title: More Than Scratches

There is a storm brewing inside of me-

will someone save me

From these intrusive thoughts?

What can I do to rein back my darkness,

To chain back the monsters unleashed

From the abyss within?

I'm suffocating,

And my eyes are hot from crying.

What should I do to stop these thoughts?

I can't stop thinking,

I'm overthinking:

To be or not to be,

Give up or hope,

Love or hate.

Sometimes these thoughts feel overbearing, overflowing. At first they were only scratches on skin,

But sometimes that wasn't enough,

And the pain felt so tempting.

"Pray," they say,

But what if these thoughts are stronger

Than your faith?
