MORE OF YOU

I don’t know when you became the thought I carry through the night,

the sweet lullaby I play in my mind

before I close my eyes to sleep,

and somehow, when I wake,

you’re the first thing that I meet.

I miss you more than I can say,

in every hour, everyday.

I miss your smile, I miss your voice,

I miss the way you hold me close and

make my heart forget its own noise.

And then you call me baby,

like its just an ordinary word,

while somehow every time you say it,

my heart stops to think if that’s what it had heard.

I have a thousand things to tell you,

a thousand stories I could share,

I’d talk to you for hours and hours if only words would meet me there.

Because the moment that you call,

my words disappear,

and suddenly I’m standing there with a smile I cannot hide.

You make me want to care for you,

to know your heart and mind,

to be someone who stays beside you

through every season, every time.

And I know it’s too soon to speak of forever’s name but if I’m truly honest with my heart,

I wouldn’t mind if you remained.

I don’t know what tomorrow brings,

or where this road will bend,

but I hope this story isn’t one that has to end.

More mornings where you’re my first thought,

more nights where you’re my last,

more laughter, more conversations,

more moments I hope will last.

And if you ever ask me what I hope were meant to be,

I’d tell you I hope we keep choosing us until forever chooses me.

Because somewhere along the way without warning,

without clue, my heart became a little softer,

a little warmer simply because of you.

And if I could say just one thing without my courage falling through,

I’d stop searching for perfect words and simply say:

I love you.
