when everywhere I saw

was darkness

and the light remained too far

from my reach,

I embraced the dark shadows

that lingered under my bruises

and found solace in my

evermore grief

but when the night wept longer

and the sun never seemed

to wake up,

I held to hope

like it was my dying wish

only to

feel the next sunrise come

burst through the walls of my heart,

and fill it with laughter and sunshine and warmth

and everything I didn't know could belong

to me.
