Montage
By Shivani Malhotra
I tried to understand Montage
It bewildered me awhile
Many a pieces, so many fragments
Selected, pieced together as one, writes the dictionary
But did I comprehend, did I see meaning?
No, answers my mind
My thoughts wander…to the everyday
Moments of bliss and gay, equally woe and hope
Times of endearment, as of indifference
People who come, those who don’t
Ones that stay, and others won’t
Fleeting glimpses of sunny days, long hours of dark morose
Celebrations that make the heart sing
Minimal intervals not so sought again
Memories withheld in the sparkle of the eye
Sounds ringing a melody in the ear
An endless mosaic of feelings, thoughts, flashes woven as a string
Such is the potpourri of the everyday
Reflections that make for the slow passage of time
Strung together, they make an artistic composite
A lifetime is but the juxtaposition of the heterogenous
But making a whole
The whole made complete from the medley
Made me think of life itself
And then I understood..Montage
