Missed Connection
By Shreyash Anand
To my pumpkin,
Listen, listen,
Listen to my plight,
There was a girl,
I saw before my flight.
There she sat,
Playing some games,
With hair so silky and
As pretty as the Thames.
I glanced at her,
She looked back,
We locked in,
And there was no turning back.
“Can you take a picture of me?”
Gently I asked her,
She agreed and took it,
A memento for the future.
We chatted and talked,
And I started to feel,
There was something that connected,
Something that put my head over my heel.
Her gentle eyes behind her glasses,
Seemed like a marvel,
Oh My! She touched me,
And painted me so colorful.
How lucky can one guy be?
With such an event unfolding,
Before his very eyes,
A sparkle inside them holding.
Alas! The time came,
One hour had passed.
I had to depart,
Parting ways at last.
We promised to stay in touch,
And rushed to our boarding,
Thinking all about,
The encounter so rewarding.
Oh! Damn it!
We forgot to ask our names,
Forgot to swap contacts,
Left with what only in our memory remains.
If we ever meet again in this world,
May we lay down under a sky full of stars;
And admire the pretty moon,
Still glamorous with its scars.
Oh bless this stupid encounter,
Filled with perfection;
Oh bless this pretty girl I found,
We had a missed connection.
