Misgivings Of A Broken Man
By Sahil Seemant
Call me wind if you do please
for i won't bother you in your pursuits.
Tranquil and peaceful be us say I,
as if the bad blood was erased.
The grieving takes us long
into the ever twinkling starry night.
I longed for love, yet only found betrayal
I wanted to belong, yet forsaken by my own.
A part of me is holding back tears,
as if they're beloved old friends.
I seek the eluding path to everlasting happiness,
yet the Gods have been rather unkind to me.
I breathe, wait and hope
for the piercing of the veil that holds me,
yet I fear I shall remain empty-handed.
A strange time this is,
when the deniers believe
the critics support and my family forsakes me.
Again I shall rise, from the embers of my past
to escape the inevitable and yet fall,
halfway to my destination, so near yet so far.
When the world fights a war,
only I shall remain behind,
as I lament my loss and fade away.
Let History remember me
as a pawn in a bigger game.
