Mirrors

Despair! Despair! The reflection shouts,
Questioning me, if reality has set in.
On the face, I question, if I'm a lie,
Then assuring myself that this isn't the truth.
What is natural, what is life,
I ponder into its absurd invention.
Here, I live a life of waste and disgust,
Inside you, a different realm persists.
As I age, it changes with my dismay,
Reminding me, time is a cruel, cruel light.
In that light, the colours of my face fade,
And I wonder, if it's taunting my resolve.
Courage! Courage! I scream,
And we both are in a daydream.
I am he, he is I,
Who will solve this puzzle?
Colours inside, colours outside,
And in the silver, we gaze at our hollow faith.
I believe, 'I am presence and time',
He replies, 'I am your reason'.
Are we both two-fold journeys,
Or, am I chasing death and you are chasing me?
When I leave, do you pause,
Or, are you just imitating my ignorance?
When I see you, I embrace my senses,
When you see me, what does your mind behold?
I know I am tangible, and you are just an opinion,
So, why am I suspecting our creation?
Allure and tranquil, you seem free,
Simple and painless, you parallel the human purpose.
Bit by bit, I am consumed by your careless joy,
When I speak, lips moving, you listen,
When I cry, tears agreeing, you pity.
Fundamental or imaginary, this world is not for amity,
And again I suspect, 'Is our creation truly just?'.
I get lost thinking about our fellowship,
And I scream,
Mirror! Mirror! Come nearer,
And let's sublime in the simmer.
