You think you know me
But you don’t,
All you see is a façade,
Treachery and false emotions that you instigate.
I show you what you like,
White lies in disguise.
You put your faith in labels,
The country, the clothes
And even the face!
You make me wonder,
What do you want from your life?
I am caught in your world,
Too deeply entangled to get out,
But I can’t fight off the fire deep inside,
A burning ache of longing,
A desire to be set free
Of burdens you place upon me.
Blindly following your dusky light
With eyes that have been forever closed,
Into a kaleidoscopic dimension
Of monochromatic intention,
A distorted reality you name as humanity.
You show me what you like,
White lies undisguised.
Against my will, my reason,
I put them on, put them all on,
The painted faces that I create,
For your pleasure, for you’re bored.
I am lost in your deception,
Stumbling through this abysmal fear,
Fear of being consumed by you,
Seeking others who wish to escape,
Escape the monster known as mortality,
A fickle creature of guile
And pursuer of superficiality.
Release me from these shackles –
(Whose keys you have thrown away)
Unlock this boundless cage you have put me in –
(The doors of which you forgot to design)
For though I may have freedom in this limitless expanse of nothingness,
You bind me to become the emptiness itself –
A person who exists,
And exists only but does not live,
Because living requires a purpose,
A purpose you cannot give me.
You are taking over my heart
In a rebellion,
One that I cannot control,
For you are the person that lives inside me,
Reflected in the mirror I stand before now,
A darker part of me
Who thrives in illusions and futility.
I accept you as my own,
But I do not give you possession of my soul,
I know you will devour it,
Devour it whole, and yet
We are separate but inseparable,
An infinity loop;
Where one ends no one can tell,
We are one but not united,
A confliction that has been ignited,
You dwell in me, and I in you,
For without your eternal bleakness
My undying flame will have no meaning.
I show you what you like,
White lies in disguise,
It is my only way of survival in this world that I so despise,
Because I am human,
And so are you.
You think you know me
