Middlemist’s Red in This Heaviest Mist?

Misty hills and woods,

Hot coffee smell in freezing winds.

Peace and warmth, simmering pots.

‘Missing my grandparents here’ type of moments;

Tears rolled down, that’s my sudden break down.

Right across me is you who “pays no attention”

Your eyes caught mine, then your gaze shouts aghast.

My tears shined bright, hiding was not from yours.

Does it really hurt, seeing my teary eyes?

Was it really your heart that dropped?

The same one which dropped mine?

Is it another “I don’t deserve you” moment of realization?

Or is it a “can’t watch your tears” type of realization?

What was I? or what am I?

Just an old lover in a white daisy dress?

Or your Middlemist’s Red in this heaviest mist?

You stormed outside, to the garden, to the daisies, to the white ones?

No! to the red ones!

Just to place it in my hand and spill that coffee on my recent sonnet, leaning in for a passionate kiss?!

Oh! You left me no excuse to wonder how this one flower made me a ‘daisies over roses’ kind of person.
