Mid-Week Crisis

Maybe it's ok

to not want to get out of bed

and wear just an oversized shirt-

long enough to cover your bottom,

just in case;

till it sticks and stinks;

and maybe it’s ok to think and then think about

what you thought and repeat it all,

in various permutations and combinations;

to put on high heels on a Wednesday afternoon on naked legs-

to go nowhere but to walk circles and other patterns

in your locked room, in front of a full view mirror

to get your own validation

on how the clarity of your thigh-cellulite is at least a year away

and write a poem about it like it's the only thing that can flourish you with identity, before you take those heels off and put them back in their place.
