Mid-Way
By Priyendra Kishore Dutta
I am not bothered with acceptance, I do not owe you my bread.
I anyhow defied your navigators when I chose my road ahead.
Or so I love to think, for defiance is always so irresistible itself.
The road less travelled is so mystic but does it assure of help?
“God helps those who help themselves”, every-time they said.
I stood confused, is it then to myself that I should have prayed?
I swear I tried my best to listen to the eulogized proverbial heart.
But unfortunately, either I am deaf or my heart is mute and inert.
The deaf may be stranger to the sound but can still see the light.
I needed a glimmering beacon that would shine my path bright.
I wonder, then why, though I craved, I never spotted that fire!
May be I was so full of myself that no guide I was ready to admire!
Do I hide my defiance behind my arrogance? Did I take the right turn?
Mundane success or enigmatic individuality, for what do I really yearn?
The questions wrap around the air as I tend to lose my path mid-way.
Without trying both, which path is less traveled by, who am I to say!
