Metamorphosis II

I’ve been here for hours, hours and hours

Now it’s time to escape, escape, and escape

Now it’s time to change, change and change

The light bleeds through the silken threads

Cutting into my naked body

Cutting, cutting , gutting

My skin loosens, splitting wet,

I can feel the teeth of the heat

Gnawing, gnawing, gnashing

A thousand mouths rip at my wings

It’s Pain herself, putting the blade against my spine

She slides it (so sharply)down, down, down

She takes her cold hands and peels away the skin revealing the red

Revealing the sinew, the ichor, the carnage

And Vanity is her right hand, she stands beside Pain

Helping her with my metamorphosis

After hours, upon hours, upon hours

Of writhing, incessant, festering, pain

I can no longer cower

I have entered a new domain

Of fairness and shining grace

And as you can see by my face

I am covered in lace

In delicate lilac lace

I have become a new thing

And as you can see by my wings

I am covered in rose string

In clingy rose string

I am the epitome of beauty

I am prettier that Pretty herself

I am more beautiful than Beauty herself

Oh, I am more vain that Vanity herself

And I am more hollow than the promise of love

And colder than the prize of death
