Memories
By Nishidha Lehkade
As she felt the warmth of the sun rays
slowly leaving her face
she knew it was time to go back
time to put
every smile she had collected in this forgotten town,
the empty playground she couldn’t see
only the ghost of one merry face chasing several another,
the crayon curves on the wall which knew nothing
but the hands that had knitted them,
the rain that tore the sandcastles apart
but never it’s sincere soldiers,
the floating faces beaming newfound zeal
in the small pond,
that very first kiss which now lacked definition
but not the poignant heartbreak it brought,
the town where the lulling air seemed timeless
and the starts that shone just as bright
back into a box she called
