And then 3 o' clock finally struck. I awaited eagerly for the window to open and to hear her cheerful voice. Every time the steel gates creaked signaling an incomer, I perked my ears for any signs of her return. 3 turned to 4, seconds became minutes, minutes to hours...darkness fell and then I knew she was never coming back.
And I let the tears flow freely...I didn't know if it was out of joy because of you were freed or sadness because of your departure. In the darkness of the night I buried my face in the pillow, crying in anguish, calling out your name, with only the confinement of the four walls to comfort me. I thought time heals wounds but now I know time increased longing for her.
That night I heard every sound in prison, the shackles, the prisoners' cries, the guards' laughter, even the sound of the stars peering into the cell but nothing could overshadow the sound of your absence...
Hanann there wasn't anyone like you before you and there isn't anyone like you after you. O companion who touched my life and captured my heart , would that you remind me Yumna all is going to be okay, would that you come back for just a minute so that all could be like the old days. Did life have to separate us in a place where nobody and nothing could break our sisterhood?
Time and place separated us due to circumstances but you will forever be in my heart and prayers.
