Memoirs Of A Jade Bracelet
By Donna Nongkhlaw
The closest I've been to flying
was in the sway of her hands
when I adorned her pearly skin
it has been eons since
I do not remember how I got here
and I do not know
what became of her either
all I remember was being wanted
I remember being loved.
Washed up on this shore
the sand, my only company
will soon engulf me entirely
but I do not wish to be found
there's peace in my solitude
red skies and roaring tides
whet my emotions.
How I long for another evening like her eyes
for summer breeze
moonlit skies and stardust
to wrap me up for a while
I do not wish to be found
for unlike the message in the bottle
I cannot tell the world about her.
Warm hands collected me
the sound of the cool breeze
now replaced
with that of doorbells and footsteps
perched in my corner
this is where you'll find me
at Marty's lost and found.
