Meant To Be

The city sleeps

As the wind carelessly slows

A moment of deja vu

With me and you.

You were a mythical mystery,

The object of all my desires,

But I was never yours

And I know I never will be.

Upon my doorstep you stand,

Preaching unforgivable lies

And twisting the knife in my back

To rip my heart in two

I stare and stare

Your brown eyes of begging,

The sweetest nectar for me,

We truly are meant to be.
