Me Looking For We

All of me, only myself

Not fraught, not forlorn, albeit in perpetual quest

A touch amiss, a feeling of incomplete

Searching for another, perhaps seeking somewhat more

Of oneness, of being centred, of unity between inner and outer

A pursuit of wholeness, a caress to the longings of the spirit

A soulmate perchance, the one for all times

To share all thoughts, to bare open the heart

To hear the unsaid, to speak a language understood

To stand by in highs and lows, in joy and woe

To walk together on the earthly odyssey

United, hand in hand and side by side

Two souls seeing as one, breathing as one

You and me, better and stronger as we.

The labour of love, is this the We so sought?

Maybe…but yet something more

I pick the paintbrush, few strokes to paint the mood

The colours emerge, as does a oneness with the senses.

A pen to write, an etching of thoughts buried deep

The words speak a tale, an expression beyond the self.

Pages turn from the cookbook, aroma fills the air

A recreation of old memories, nostalgia descends

Music to soothe the aura, lyrics that strum the heart

The mind calms to the melody, sways to the gentle beat

Gazing out the window, time spent in quiet solitude

Lost in thoughts, an acceptance of all there is

The noises subside, eyes see a distant vision

A feeling of unison settles, with one and all

At last, the finding of We

Me, in harmony with many

Me, in harmony with nature

Me, in harmony with phenomena

Me, in harmony with life

Me, in harmony with the universe

Me, in harmony with all else

Thus We, me in unison with self
