Love Song

Long, intelligent, soulful fingers on white keys,

velvet voice, soothing strings of tormented hearts,

with each piercing,

lyrical sound.

Dreamy gaze across the room,

memories sting the eyes,

too weary to shed a tear.

Still, rhythmic flow cools

the insistent longing of days gone by,

when he could say a word that could cause a childlike smile to dance on her face.

Years apart,

yet they shared the same mature and vibrant heart.

Theirs was a tale that came to life when musical harmony touched the chords of human longing.

Only a girl-child could truly understand the lyrical beauty,

of a father’s love song.
