Just as the beauty of a rose is enhanced by its clinging thorns,

Just as the growth of a looming, lush tree

Is born through years of silent plea.

Just the way one truly finds eternal peace

Only after all worldly attachments cease.

Perhaps how knives are only sharpened right,

By enduring the clashes of endless fights.

Much like the fire that wraps around you like a warm blanket,

Yet reduces every thread knit together into ashes.

The stars retreat the morning sky,

So the sun alone may glow so high.

And how, for the moon to rise,

The sun gives all it has and dies.

Love is sacrifice.

For what does it even mean

If, for its existence to survive,

It has paid no price?
