Love In The Age Of Netflix

Netflix has ruined love

Like an iron fist in a glove

Gone are the mushy lovey talks

Missing are those long endless walks

Now it’s all about watching movies and shows

Rated from top to the lows

The couple that always used to text

Now only scroll to watch something next

The boy watches shows like Ozark

And introduces his ladylove to a show like Dark

The girl tries to like his genre choice

But doesn’t find much reason to rejoice.

She watches Brooklyn nine nine

which reduces her stress line.

She tries to introduce the boy to shows of her liking

But the boy puts it plainly that he would rather go hiking.

Then in a turn of events

she found a show worth many cents.

She suggested the show to the boy

Awaiting excitedly his reaction as if she had gotten a new toy

The show was called Tripling

And she was sure, the boy would find its humor crippling.

With bated breath she waited

All the while reminiscing about the boy she dated.

When she could wait no longer, she called,

To know whether he was enjoying it or was appalled.

To her joy, he loved and laughed over it

and recounted the funny scenes bit by bit.

However, to her dismay, he gave her no credit

Even though the show was completely lit.

The girl took it lying down

but deep inside her heart frowned.

Where is my credit? She asked with force

To which he replied nonchalantly: What credit? You were just a source.

And just like that she cut the phone

And instantly the boy knew that he was in the danger zone

Begging and pleading would not do now

He would have to grovel and maybe get her a cute pet who would meow

It is not a tale of folklore

But has become a fact so sure

Netflix has ruined love

Like an iron fist in a glove
