I video called you like always

But now, Instead of your profile picture

I could only see that grey coloured human icon

I still kept the phone ringing

I kept wishing for your face to replace the icon

But I knew your phone would not ring

But what if, instead of your phone, universe made your heart ring

And what if you felt your heart ring and then you whispered my name

What if that whisper travelled miles and reached me

You would say, sound doesn’t work like that

But I say, what if love was a physical entity

What if love was a particle or wave

What if it was a wave like the sound

A sound that could travel hundreds of miles

Then I would send the sound of me chanting your name to the universe

And that sound would reach your ears and make your ears perk up

And then What if you whispered my name with love

What if that love travelled to me and generated warmth in my heart

What if I felt that warmth of your last hug and recognised your love

If you think that huh, love cannot be a wave

Then what if love was a particle like the fragrance

A fragrance that could travel hundreds of miles

Then I would cook and send the fragrance of your favourite meal

Then I would wear that perfume you loved the most

Then I would put on my hoodie, the smell of which you adored

Then I would buy a hundred roses

And hope that all these fragrances of love travelled all the way to your nose

And your nose detected my love for you

Sounds like quite a possibility to me

So I video called you like always

I know the technology wouldn’t allow your phone to ring

But still, what if my love could make your ears perk up

What if my love would make your nose sniff

Normally I used to stare at your face and listen to your voice

Now I stare at a grey and white icon and listen to my phone’s unanswerable outgoing ring
