Lost in Music

The music played a sweet melody one that almost left me in a trance, as I listened to his fingers brush across each chord I got lost in the sounds of every single sensation. I sat eyes closed imagining an ocean with the wind blowing through my hair and with every note my heart...the beat slowly catching its tone. I felt the music pierce my soul and touch every nerve and as my eyes remained closed, I saw the waters of the ocean move in such beauty and tranquility. It felt as though I had briefly escaped a room full of people and got lost at sea with my feet touching nothing but the sand and water. As he gained momentum strumming at every key, I breathed deeper and tightened my eyes. Could I stay a little bit longer here at this place gazing at this beauty before me where wind and hair were almost friends and all that stood was just me. Lost in thought is how I’d like to be to forget my reality, for when I came to listen to these sounds, I came alone, just me a reminder of how life was now and not how it used to be. I could never enjoy listening to such wonders of melodies because that person did not share the same love as me, but when we separated, I promised to do the things my heart had always longed to do including today. Finally, he ended the music abruptly but with cadenza and the crowd applauded. I opened my eyes, ending my escape, my short-lived vision, and returned to reality. A small tear escaped my eye, and I too clapped for his piano sonata was as brilliant as the vision I just had. With my heart still pacing, I was thankful that I could finally embrace my true love for music.
