Looking into glass

Silver trimmings line the sheet of glass,

In it, brightly-lit eyes and cherry lips of a woman,

Smiling so sweetly at me.

Gentle lids fluttering on a flushed face,

She parts her lips to speak;

And then she exhales-

Oh no!

Putrid, poison gas permeates,

She chokes and grappled at her throat,

Scratches make sores like sandpaper,

As blood splutters the plaque.

Those eyes dull into fallen disrepair,

Lips blacken like squids ink,

And a witchy grimace spreads.

She inhales and I flee down the corridor,

For fear those innards infect me too;

Oh lo! She rears in the adjacent gold sheet-

To curse and taint me!

Begone, old evil, Begone! Begone!
