Lonely Planet

By Preeti Arra

She wanders her lonely planet of doom

Where flames make up the sky

She wonders why no one else lives there

Never occurred to her that they die

She goes around putting out flames

With her little pail of water

Can't get herself to leave the land

Despite where it's got her

A single green twine feeds the delusion

That her world can really be saved

She tells herself it could be worse

As she mistakes someones glow for a blaze

The raging fire destroys everything

Except her heart of gold

The flames can't put her out of her misery

Her gift is truly her curse.
