Lockdown Chronicling

Why is there no noise I hear?

Why are all the roads so clear?

The cities are eerie,

The parks are scary.

No vendor about,

And rickshaws? I doubt.

Such is the feeling during a lockdown!

I see no kids cycling around,

I spot no man walking his hound.

The local market is oh so spotless,

Designer boutiques are now pointless.

People seem to be hibernating,

The introverts are celebrating.

Such is the feeling during a lockdown!

Work from home is getting tiresome,

School vacations are becoming loathsome.

No eateries for date nights,

No slumber parties for pillow fights.

Windows latched, doors shut,

No striding out for even a haircut.

Such is the feeling during a lockdown!

Slicing and dicing, frying and baking,

A culinary professional in the making.

Washing and dusting, moping and sweeping,

I volunteer to be my own house keeping.

Binging and snacking, reading and napping,

When bored of these I simply start yapping.

Such is the feeling during a lockdown!

How much longer will this last,

It feels as though a spell is cast.

Days seem long and the nights seem longer,

Peace now seems a miracle to conquer.

Huddled up at home feeling encumbered,

Wondering if our days are numbered.

Such is the feeling during a lockdown!
