Listen To My Broken Heart

I could never grasp, what was all this for?

Every time I gave, you just asked for more.

At first, it felt like you really can’t get enough,

Then slowly letting it in, that I’m not enough.

My worst mistake was to believe your little lies,

Even though I could see it clearly in your eyes.

All those honeyed phrases that came out,

Only my love kept me from pointing that out.

Until I realised after years and years,

That this will never end, the sad tears.

I see you, making me look like the bad one,

Acting before others, like the good one.

When you furtively removed your mask,

“Who are you?” I always ask.

Time after time, you put it back on,

Out into the world, you walk on.

All these years, didn’t help unveil,

To understand who you are in real.

Losing grip on what to believe,

The cruel actions or the comforting lies?

After you’ve done whatsoever,

Same old promises, “it will be the last time ever”.

I should finally listen to my broken heart,

Not let it break one more time, apart.
