Like a Broken Doll

You toss me in a drawer when you don’t want me anymore.

You’ll play with me for a while,

but then you’ll get bored.

I shatter as you throw me,

leaving me broken on the floor,

in a puddle of my own tears,

feeling absolutely incomplete.

Then you try to patch me up

like I’m a broken doll.

You tell me to stay away,

but you also want more.

You want me to be all yours,

but it can’t be the other way around.

I ask myself,

Why do I still stay?

Then I look down

and remember that I’m too scared to jump off the shelf.

I’m too scared to be all by myself.

So I choose to stay

and take the pain over being alone like a broken doll that nobody wants to play with anymore.
