Life Of Explorer
By Viren Gohil
The morning sun, shining in my face,
wakes me to the day.
I peep out through the curtains, see the world
and explore.
I want to go outside, explore this new land.
Stay outside for hours on end with fresh air in my lungs.
But now I am old and it is time for sleep.
My son has taken over my place, is now an explorer...
But he has yet to learn,
it is time for sleep.
The morning sun still shines in my face...
going back over the past, making my way though darkness and light.
I continue to explore what is new, wonders that nobody else has seen.
I want to explore more, find new things.
I want to have the energy again that once I had for this exploration.
My body is old, however, and it can't.
I feel the morning sun on my face, no longer waking me to the day.
Waking me to no more days of exploration.
Going back into my memories, finding things that I did not see before.
I continue to explore, but I am old and exhausted.
In my sleep I continue to dream, about exploring new worlds...
I find myself back in my bed, my eyes closed to the sun.
The light is soft and gentle on my skin as I go back to sleep.
I explore the world of dreams, but it is old and I have seen it all before...
But in my dream I see my bed...
I want to get up and explore, but I can't.
My eyes remain closed, the light so soft on my skin...
I can't get up, I'm so tired after last night's exploration...
The world of dreams is not new to me though I see the light.
I want to explore, but it's too late now...
The morning sun has crept into my bedroom, before I am ready to wake up.
I miss the days of exploring, running around outside...
Now I'm older and it is time for sleep.
