Life Of A Soldier
By Sreemanti Bag
Lying in blood-bath, wreathing in pain
A fatigued voice muffling a squeaky cry
But, all in vain
Vanquished in war field
Anguished to die
Last sips of blood-soaked sweat, drenching his lips
And agonising tears filling his eyes
Too premature in twenties
To bid forever good bye
Leaving behind a mourning nation
To suffer and cry
He knows, would be remembered in grandmother's lullaby
His essence would linger in prayers and hymn
His soul would live through every warrior's dream
Death is just a beginning,
Not an end
He vows to be back in new life,
As a soldier again.
