Life is like a river

Life is like a river

Flowing to the ocean,

With calm beginnings to waterfalls

Theres constant movement in emotions.

Starting at the top

Where heaven meets the earth,

The gentle stream of life begins

Steadily growing not yet knowing her worth.

As she meanders down steep slopes

The stream becomes a river,

“Is she aware of the treacherous path ahead?”

“Or the waterfall that’s going to hurt her?”

The plummeting is inevitable

The fall brings deep sadness and pain,

Whirlpools of hurt swirl constantly

“Will she ever flow calmly again”.

But the path was already designed

from the very beginning by the creator,

She was forged to be bold and strong

With her destiny unknown, yet destined to be greater.

So in the Lord she’ll trust for she knows

the thirst of life was never in the river,

she’ll follow her path to the ocean

where ultimate life is received from the Giver.
