Life In Grey

She got away, she had to go

You would see it in her eyes if you’d looked up close,

The smile was there, so was the gleam,

So was the longing and so was the unforgettable dream.

You have it all they’d say,

What’s mine to call, she’s wonder,

But he hugged her tight and slept with peace at night,

She’d brush his hair away from his face, see the moon shine bright outside the window,

The night would slowly fade into a new day.

A misfit in her fitting life,

No one could see she was living a lie,

Dreams were dreamt,

Plans were chalked,

Now it was all at the mercy of an act.

A different life called out to her,

Spoke about independence and respect,

Offered happiness and nothing less,

Choice is easy between black and white,

But in an ocean of grey, you would drown irrespective of an indulgent fight.

To pick up one and abandon the other,

To spend a whole lifetime thinking,

Happiness was there and I’m here,

What did she miss and what did she gain,

The cost of choice was hard to repay,

Was it right to stay or did she have to run away?
