FOR YOUR EYES

Please sign below and take an oath,

We will now teach you how to make yourself implode

And I can sense that you will not like how it goes

And you’ll defend your ways until you have grown old.

Please sign below and take another oath,

You will now start building walls around you just to feel secure

And I can tell that something in you won’t like those walls

But you will learn from them to make yourself at home.

There will be something stuck in your head,

There will be a certain way for you to see,

By that time you’d have taught yourself well

to miss all the other ways that it can be.

We want the same things, we want to be safe,

To be understood, I think we can agree;

We have solved mysteries and we know the math,

Is it enough to make a moment last?

We are living this life in a binding,

Looking around has been called a mistake

That we cannot make

Because we’re afraid of losing our space among all other things;

We make a garden out of life

That we need to maintain just to be alive

Because we do not see the very deep order

of the jungle we call chaotic.

Because we are people, afraid of our freedom,

Forgetting we’ve borrowed this Earth from our children;

If we’d just be honest and go with our hearts,

We’d get to see that we too have one.
