Liberty of the Lost

“Life is a tragedy wrapped in painful passions, Losing to the wrath of lawful losers

Socially constructed kingdoms of the soarers. It blends with blood, broods with pain;

Rage, the remembrance of the whimsical allies, wishing Vengeance, not virtue.

The graceful angel: revenge for reason,

Words of whisperers and wanderers,

Waving up high in the realm of men.

Monsters cloaked as mortals,

Wore legacies of warriors;

They're not soldiers but grief-worn survivors. Of stone and statues they pray for,

In the free blooms of her unseen hand they pray for, Drenched in pain that no prayers could lift. They stand in cold, forlorn in the war,

In the calm they serve,

Not in peace, but in the absence of war.

In the tender rhythm of her tune,

In the laces of her love,

They thank the Odyssey, praying for,

Whispering to the liberty of the lost.”

This is one of my very first poems. This one portrays people who have been broken by conflict but continue to survive, carrying the grief and legacies of those who came before them. Of course, one could've easily said that my favourite poetic device would be Alliteration, and that's absolutely right. I love it so much I use it everywhere. This poem could be compared to the current situation of our era, where we can't feed the poor, but could still fund the wars.
