Letting Go

I wrote my poem on the beach

right where I sat, quite at peace

my quill, a twig that I know not

from how far hath drifted by to me.

I inscribed all the sorrows that

on my way I saw or didn’t see.

I pressed the mossy knotty twig

and scribbled of all the poverty.

I wrote of love and those who

with broken hearts have none to seek.

I wrote of wants and woes about,

of half-hearted faiths and smiles bleak

I wrote then, about my own

myself, my fears, difficulties.

I wrote of the world that I had dreamt

and scribbled down my destiny.

I sat hence, my nib reposed

till the ocean reached right to my feet

It took my quill from the sandy shore,

my heavy heart and my poetry.
