Letter To Ma

By Dhruv Tangri

Before it gets too late,

Beyond the knowing this question rises,

Do we really have to fall down into the valley,

If we can prevent it by avoiding a careless and misguided step?

Towards salvation I dream of marching,

But not without you, ma.

I can feel you drifting apart into the horizon,

Under the cry of the bleeding sun,

As every wave that crashes the shore,

Breaks my heart into an irreparable piece,

That falls into this cruel sea and swims towards you,

In the hope to find solace.

I'm ready to bring the stars for you,

Without you, I'll be alone in agonizing solitude,

Away from what seemed to be the world till you birthed me.

I'm no hero, I'm not made of stone,

But I feel I'm made for you.

I treat you as a part of myself,

Cutting it off and throwing it away is cruel isn't it?

Your smile is precious, like an angel on Earth,

I could literally do anything to catch just a tiny glimpse of that,

The way you laugh is so comforting,

Like the burning coals during the winter night,

The way you hold my hand,

So soft and tender to touch.

Innocent as a baby bird trying to fly for the first time,

The way you love me,

So pure, without contamination.

The way you care for me,

Like a bear to its Cubs.

Hold me forever,

Watch over me,

It'll be empty and cold without you here,

I can move only if you're with me,

I can do anything for your smile,

Holding you till your time is done.

I'm sure we can face all odds for the bond divine.
