Lethal Curiosity

Updated: Feb 10, 2024

By Shrija Roy

There's no end to this lane

Just running to a place nowhere

Should I change the path?

Is there a gain?

Let's follow the trail to end the wait

Take a turn, leave the perpetual hollow

Follow the new trail to the unknown

This seems exciting, the feeling of mellow

The familiarity has been overthrown

I was running on glass

I had to slow down

But it was too late

The weight would surpass

As I fell in, I tried to fathom

Was the turn worth it?

Or were my old ways to gather

To my surprise

I landed on flowers

In the past, I was chasing the sun

But today the moon shines brighter

The change is terrifying

I'm leaving the old

But I want to keep going

I'm finally finding my road

I never lost myself

But I didn't find myself either

The incomplete sense of my understanding

I'm moving into the ether

My curiosity is lethal, breaks my best

But I can't wait to see what happens next
